Well, I think it's an insect, to start with when it was flying I thought Moth, a weird moth I grant you  but then it landed, and I thought what on earth

Yes, it's amoth I think - a 'longhorn', member of the Adelidae. I don't remember which, have a look at: British Moths | Systematic List | UKMoths

It's a Longhorn ( as Paul says) Moth, Nemophora degeerella.

So it's a Moth, my instincts are getting better well they had to eventually I suppose  , must say I could have watched their weird flight all day
