| | | Hornet ID I know this image isn't brilliant, but I would love to know if anyone can tell me if this is a queen hornet? It was very large (about 5 cm) and couldn't have been a wasp and it had red on the thorax and head. I don't know anything about these creatures, but would have thought that the end of May was a unusual time to see a queen, if that's what it was, as I would have thought it would be in the nest.
Any help would be much appreciated!

| | | Re: Hornet ID Thanks Eucera, I thought so. I guess there's no telling if it's a queen from my not so good photo?
Many thanks again! |
