Hi,
I have 2 beetle photos for ID please.
They were both only a about 5mm long.
I can not see them in the Gallery's.

Probably needs someone who knows what theyre talking about, but top one looks close to malthinus flaveolus.................

Afternoon Dave,
Both are Soldier Beetles, Cantharidae - and from the Malthinus genus! The first I believe is Malthinus seriepunctatus and the second is likely Malthodes minimus, common in the South - though I'd appreciate additional images for visual clarification of pronotal and femoral colours.
Ken, the pronotum of flaveolus is just yellowy-cream - this one's black-centered. Well done on the genus though - these aren't easy!

I am in the south as u suggest.
Its a pity, but it is the only photo I took. If I see it again, I shall try and get a better shot.
