| | | Mystery wingless fly but what was it doing?
My wife was busy packing for our week at Bempton Cliffs when I spotted this fly and she immediatly came out to try and take a photograph in poor light.
The fly appears to have no wings and was apparently busy digging into one of the many huge logs that we have placed around the small garden to attract birds and insects.
The log appears to be turning into dust and if you look it appears there is some dust sticking to it's legs.
Can anyone from this poor photograph suggest an identity to this fly which to a novice looks rather like a hover fly type without wings.
When I tried to move the fly it quicky disappeared into a crack in the rotting log.
Sorry cannot add more information. |

The reason for my delay in replying is becaues we have just returned from a fantastic week at Bempton where Margaret was taking photographs of sea birds.
Hope you understand,
Brian. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
