Fly for ID
Hi

Anyone able to ID this fly for me please? - I've had a quick look but couldn't get anywhere




In garden surrounded by deciduous woodland - Location map

Looks like one I had id'ed for me a few days ago! A thick-headed fly, Myopa testacea.

Fantastic image, nicely done!

Thanks for the quick reply DM. It seems that the brown marks on the jowls are suggestive of a similar species to Myopa testacea, called Myopa buccata.

Ah, good spot. A closer look at my picture suggests that may have been buccata also...
