| | | What's that doing in there? Imagine my surprise when I went outside last night, after Springwatch, to top up my birdfeeder, to be met with this unusual sight!
Has anyone ever seen a Snail consume bird seed before? It's a new one on me!
The feeder is hanging 4ft up in my Lilac. Must've taken it ages to get up there!

Never seen one in bird feeder though lol |

This is a better shot that shows the Snail well & truly clinging on to the outside by it's tailend to enable it just the right distance to get to the seed.
Make of it what you will, it just struck me as interesting & amusing at the same time!

| | | Re: What's that doing in there? Hehe, I see this all the time. There are usually a few snails in my feeder as soon as it's empty enough for them to get in.
I also put birdseed on the garden wall- instant snail party. There were at least eight this morning. I suppose they like the seed as much as the birds... seems a bit dangerous for the snails if you ask me though! It's like a slow-moving buffet for the crows. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
