ID for small bug(instar?)


About 5 mm, one of a number on a laurel. Haven't been able to find it so far, so would be grateful for help. (For some reason I keep noticing smaller and smaller subjects

Afternoon Lori,

Yes you're quite correct, it's an instar of a Plant Bug (Hemiptera, Miridae). I'm pretty sure it's Deraeocoris flavilinea, which first appeared in the UK almost 15yrs ago and is spreading well.

I checked on the BB website and it certainly looks right - that odd triangular pattern fits and I saw one rather small male adult too. Will have to try for a better photo
