| | | A rather large (and unusual) unidentified bug Somehow this rather large insect managed to get itself into our kitchen last night. I've no idea what it was, but it was very noisy when it was flying, and was about 2 inches long. The glass is a pint glass so that gives you an idea on the size. Got it safely out again down the bottom of the garden but I'd love to know what it is, I've never seen anything like this before, especially the little fans above the eyes!
Any ideas? |

That looks like a Cockchafer to me.

| | | Re: A rather large (and unusual) unidentified bug It's a male cockchafer, also known as a maybug, billywitch, and other names. We have had quite a few around recently, almost resulting in a heart attack when one landed next to my mate...
Impressive beetles, and completely harmless. |

They are rather loud, I think they are petrol powered | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
