Fly I.D. help please
Any help on these much appreciated.Nearest I can get is some kind of Sawfly but probably totally wrong

Yes, a Sawfly - an Arge species I should think. John Coldwell is good with these so will give you a better-informed response.

Cheers Jason.I tried to get some shots from different angles 'cos I know these insecty things can be tricky

Note to self:- must get a macro lens!

Spotted some tiny green catterpillers with little black "faces" on the white currant bush slowly stripping the leaves (they do this every year) ,would this be the bad parent to those responsible

No picture of these as its lashing down at the moment.

It looks like Selandria serva. This is usually found around rushes Juncus spp.
