Longlegged fly and a baby cricket

Never seen a fly like this with second pair of legs longer than the rest:

This baby was really tiny - speckled bush?

Afternoon Hed,

The first is a Non-biting Midge from the Chironomidae sub-family, Chronominae. Your second is the nymph of the Speckled Bush-cricket.

Agree with Jason's IDs.

Today when I was at Ruislip Woods I was showing my partner a Cardinal Beetle on a leaf when I spotted a little antenna behind it move on the same leaf. As I looked more carefully it was a tiny Speckled Bush-cricket nymph so well camouflaged, 1 of a couple I found.

Thank you, both. Like you, Aeshna, I was taking a shot of a green flower beetle when I saw the antennae waving behind a leaf! Sweet litttle things, crickets.
Glad the midge is non-biting, just in case I see any more, Jason!
