Few of these down by the river today, but no females, is this normal?

Lovely shot Robin. Don't know about it being normal for there to be no females but I photographed some of these last week and the males seemed to out number the females by about four to one.

My guess is there would actually be some females around even if you didn't see them.

Seems to me that the males hang around by the river, and the females gather a short distance away in vegetation or amongst trees. Spend some time watching a female at the river and it's not hard to understand why!

A few females about today but far outnumbered by the males (or I may have just not seen them ).
