| | dragonfly eggs  I saw two dragonflies (or damsleflies i couldnt tell) maiting and who then went to what i assumed was laying eggs in my pond, the female bending her badomen into the water onto the pond weed and then going off to a different part of the pond firstly was she laying eggs and secondly what will they look like so i can look out for them, thanks.

| | | Re: dragonfly eggs Damselfly eggs are elongated oval shapes, as are the eggs of 'hawker' type dragonflies. These lay their eggs inside living or dead plant material, so you won't find the eggs if you look for them (but you might be able to find very small marks where the eggs have been inserted into plant stems if you look very closely.
Other dragonflies (darter & chaser types) have round eggs which they drop in to the surface of the water while flying low over in (you can usually see the females bobbing up and down).
