| | | Help! What is this insect!? Hi there - I have just posted a couple of images of this strange creature that was on the inside of our window and I was wondering what it is as it seems to have 'fangs' instead of wings...has very sticky feet and can jump relly well...is it some kind of nymph? I think I have posted the in the unidentifed section...but not sure! Please help! Thanks!! |

Your images were rejected because you loaded them into the Gallery. All images loaded there must have the correct naming format.
Load them into the Image Library, then you can link them to this thread. |

| | | Re: Help! What is this insect!? Afternoon Rochey, and welcome to WAB!
Is this in the UK? A view of the top and side would really help. It seems to be some kind of Cricket, though I think there is a fly that matches this profile too... as I said, additional angles would have really helped.
Take care, Jason

The group's name has just come to me - look up ' Hippoboscidae', which is the scientific group this fly comes from. With due consideration I think this could be your insect. |

I've seen this one before I think. It might be Crataerina hirundinis which lives in swallow and martins nests and appear when the nests become active in the spring. A flightless louse fly - strange things. |

There is a Martin's nest further along the wall, so pretty good going that!
Many thanks once again! | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
