| | | Male and Female Banded Demoiselle Maybe Are these a male and female Banded Demoiselle, I am pretty sure they are but the book I have says that they are usually found near slow rivers/canals but these were next to the River Wye which is fast with a sandy/gravelly bed which again according to my book is more suited to the Beautiful Demoiselle.

They are both females,both have the green bodies,in males there would be more blue.I can also see the pseudo-pterostigma of the females ,which are those light whitish/clear bits that you can see almost near the wing tips in these.I agree the greenish wings belong to the Banded Demoiselle.The defined habitat of the these species is perhaps a tad black and white in some books.My experience is that their habitats overlap somewhat.
