The nearest I could find for this fella was S. ribesii, but would appreciate confirmation, or otherwise.

Syrphus sp. for that photo. You need a clear view of the hind femur to separate ribesii from vitripennis females. And males are identical in photos.

I couldn't manage a shot of the undercarriage, but from one of my overhead shots, which showed only part of the hind leag, all legs were yellow.
I'll go with your advise and name it Syrphus sp.
