Picture-winged fly for ID please

Found this tiny little fella in Camley Street today...



Wingspan was no more than 10mm so body length was only about half that. Also, through the viewfinder the eyes looked bright lime green. It's the flash that has made them red.

Martin's certainly looks like Europhora cardui but I don't think mine is.

It is the celery fly Euleia heraclei. Would you send me the full data for the British Tephritidae recording scheme?

Not sure exactly what "full data" means but I can tell you that the grid ref is TQ2998883455 (Lat/Long 51.535041, -0.127251) and that I photographed it at 17:02 on 25th May 2010. If there's anything else you need just shout!

This one is Urophora cardui. Note the difference in wing pattern.

Thanks Laurence. Yes spotted the different wing pattern. It's a different genus as well then. Does it have a common name?

I've called it a Thistle Gall Fly but I think there are other Urophora species that are also called Thistle Gall Flys.
