It's a Fly as opposed to a Wasp I feel, and maybe from the Tipulidae family in my opinion

I forgot to say that it was about 25-30mm in body length. I was looking at Dicennidia bimaculata as well but I think these are too small. Are they common? We have never seen anything like it before, it was lovely shining in the sunlight.
