| | | random large flying insect like a cockroach? ok ive never posted on here before but the past two nights we have had two very large flying insects, i would say like cockroaches. However my partner reckons it is a wood wasp. i dont think it is, i have googled images and none of them look like these beasts.
The first was in our kitchen flying quite quickly and relatively noisey, we caught this by showing it the window. The second was in our bedroom which neither of us saw this flying. ( my partner thinks they fly for about 5 mins then drop to the ground and can hide for days?) i just put my hand on my head and there it was! it was about 6cm long and looked like a kind of cockroach, however it had a body like a maggot or lava and the outer was kind of set away from the inner and it was hard like a beetle. The other thing is, it was kind of shaped like a tear drop down to what i can only describe as its sting. which was very big. Very scary looking thing that unfortunatly got splatted and a lot of goo came out.... can anybody help with what this is please? |

| | | Re: random large flying insect like a cockroach? Have you looked at Horntail? The "sting" is probably an ovipositor. they do fly into houses at this time of year.
