| | | Re: Lacewings for confirmation Well I have attempted to follow the keys for the first one; and I'm taking a break as my eyes have started to spin!
As far as I can tell it does belong to the Wesmaelius family but with only 3 veins branching from the radial vein (as far as I can see) that would suggest it belongs to the subgenus Kimminsia.
And if the thorax is dark brown, instead of an orange brown we possibly get to W. subnebulosus or W. nervosus but we need to clearly see a very enlarged view of the abdomen to go any further. However, there are a couple of other possible species as well
But the colour pattern of the wings does appear similar to the suggestions of W. subnebulosus/ W. nervosus which are the commonest species.
It really needs a microscope, a freshly dead specimen and, most important, an expert on these species! |

| | | Re: Lacewings for confirmation OK, I've had a look at the other one now and as far as I can tell (some areas are unclear) the second antennae segments looks black not green, the long wing vein (Sc) is greenish not black but there are blackish cross veins.
All of that adds up to a probable C. perla.
But I have had to jump over a couple of hidden points so this is just a possible ID not an expert opinion; and I definitely wouldn't want to go to court on my evidence! |

Most of the images I am posting are full frame and therefore I can zoom in to get more detail where necessary. #1 Detail #2 Detail
I am sorry it has been so difficult but hope these detail images will help
Thank you again

| | | Re: Lacewings for confirmation Those images just confirm my original thoughts. W. subnebulosus or W. nervosus for the first one and Chrysopa perla for the second.
But I'm only consulting a book so I would welcome any input from anyone who has had practical experience with these subjects. |

Thanks for the obvious effort you have put in to help me identify these. Once again I appreciate and value your support.
