| | | Mayfly for ID please Anston Stones Wood 22 May 2010
Came across this fly whilst on a fungi foray with FungiJohn
Found at the side of Anston Brook as it flows through the wood. There was a shed skin on the leaf where I found it, that could have come from this specimen.
Am I correct in thinking that this is a member of Baetidae genus?
Any futher information would be welcomed.
Les

| | | Re: Mayfly for ID please I'm afraid that my reference material on these creatures is rather limited; but as nobody more experienced has ventured a reply:
The dark colour and clear wings plus 2 tails are making me think of Siphlonutidae family.
But I really can't offer much help here. There is a Baetidae specimen here which you may find helpful http://www.commanster.eu/commanster/.../Baetidae.html
Come on you experts - where are you when you are needed
