Unknown insect help
Hello all, this afternoon my wife spotted this poor fella stuck in our net curtains,



sorry about the picture quality its from a mobile phone,

could anyone possible shed some light onto what this is as i have never seen one before

Hello Civvie,

Was it about an inch long? It looks lilke a COCKCHAFER Melolontha melolontha, there is another similar species but this is the most common. They have a 3 to 4 year cycle with their grubs eating roots in the ground.

ive just measured it, and its just about over 1 inch in length and about 1/2 inch across
