I think this is a micromoth 
This hoverfly was definitely blue, very poor picture though:

The first one is the pale form of Balclutha punctata, a leafhopper. I had one earlier today as well.

Evening Hed,
Your second is likely a Platycheirus sp. Hoverfly in looks, but not certain. I did toy with the idea of it being a Portevinia sp., but I believe the girls ( as your one is) have less defined patterns.

Thanks Steve and Jason. If only these little things would keep still!! Took me half an hour to catch the hoverfly and then it flew off. 
The leafhopper actually looped the loop and landed on the leaf.
