unknown black creature in west kent
postred image recently showing black flying ceature living in groups in west kent
approx 15mm ling with long legs(?)
flies/hovers in groups under trees at edge of open fields
only been around last 7-10 days
do not come into neighboroughing gardens
1st time seeing them and have lived here 10 years
can anyone help
new to this site so a bit hit and miss

Hello elwood they're probably St Marks Flies. Have a look in the Gallery there's bound to be a picture of one there.

Yes I also agree about St Mark's Fly, so called because always appear about the 25th April. Plenty about in Hertfordshire right now, not very nice having to walk through swarms of them.
