Scorpion fly
From woodland ride. WL 10mm.
I think it's a male Panorpa sp. Is it possible to tell from this view of the appendages which species it is ? My feeling is that it might be P.cognata. If not I'll take some more photos.

Generally speaking, P. communis tends to have heavier spotting although some northern specimens have very few spots.

So the only way of safely separating the species is by microscopic examination of their genitals.

The Aidgap Lacewing ID guide does have some keys for Scorpion Fly genitals.
