can anyone identify this insect?

found in may,in london,in the house.its about half the size of an ant.does any one know what it is?

It's a ptinid beetle of some sort. Some of them are household pests

just found out more. its species name is 'mezium affine' (shining ptinus) thanks again for your help

You're welcome, though Mezium americanum looks similar too. See -
