| | | Another andrena sp. This time I feel more confident that it is an andrenid bee. Female I think & quite large - 15mm length. Found on dandelions. Any chance of an ID ?
Thanks, Peter |

But as a starting point, try Andrena haemorrhoa. And by the look of the brownish facial hair, possibly a male. I've tried counting the antennae segments but started to go cross-eyed. |

It could be a worn A. carantonica. The hairs on the abdomen from behind usually have a sort of matt, velvety appearance but at an angle can look different. If it has black hairs on the tip of the tail that is another point towards being A. carantonica. The pollen hairs usually show a creamy colour at the front edge, yours doesn't but they might have worn off.
A. carantonica is also quite a big bee compared to some.
Look at the pics on BWARS, all else seems to fit. (old name) Andrena scotica

| | | Re: Another andrena sp. I took pics of a worn A. corantonica today, the creamy hairs are still there. I wonder if yours has them but they aren't showing due to the angle?
A side to front view would help.

I've got this one which I took earlier. I'll have a look with the microscope later.
