Flower Bug type insect needs ID help

05/05/10. South Devon. Woodland.

When I first saw this bug I thought about a Damsel Bug but after looking at it on the computer screen, I think it appears more like a Flower Bug type. But, at the moment, I'm not really sure which direction to start looking.

So does it 'ring any bells' with anybody?

I went away to consult my books; and it has taken me all this time to think of the same answer! And I was very uncertain about it.

Another 'new' species for me.

Now that I have a confirmed family, I will see if I can get any closer with a full ID.

One of the Isoperla species looks possible but I can't find anything really useful in the way of photos.

However, FSC do an Aidgap Guide about Stoneflies. And, of course, there were a few other leaflets about other species which will prove useful in the future.

So taking that photo has cost me £20. But knowledge never comes cheap!
