Dark fly with one wing open & one closed

I should know this but just can't think. That one wing open and one closed is typical of one species (or family). Also the longish antennae and swollen part of the hind tarsus.

In spite of checking my files and general information I still can't put a name to it. But perhaps that is just another symptom of advancing years!

Now, I promised not to give IDs when tired (a couple of Syrphid slip-ups ), but try Beris chalybata or similar (the thorasic colour is a little different to the one I have). Yours is a male, the girl lacks the big eyes and swollen hind metatarsi.

And Beris chalybata is, possibily, the most likely candidate from that family. Thanks.
