Unidentified nematocerid
Swept from vegetation by the side of a river today. About 7-8mm WL.
I suspect it is some sort of fungus gnat but I don't recognize the wing venation & can't place it in a family.

I have tracked it down to Mycetophilidae.

Look at Mycomya sp.

Like most mycetophilids, if you don't sweep 'em you don't see 'em.
There are quite a number of Mycomya in UK, but only males are identifiable.
I was fortunate in adding one of them (M.paradentata) to the British list a few years ago.
