| | | [ID] A couple o' craneflies Hi All,
Thoughts on these middling-sized craneflies, please? Found resting wayside vegetation in Hudds. I've had to cut the original images down to get them on here, so let me know if you need to see any area zoomed in.
I've attempted the keys on this, and come tentatively to Dicranomyia lutea, but I doubt that's right.
This one I think is a Limonia or similar... is it possible to get any further?
Thanks,
Joe |

| | | Re: [ID] A couple o' craneflies Your first one could be Dicranota bimaculata. I would say it's a female, but I'm just going on similarities with pics I see. I know they don't always get it right on this site.. Dicranota bimaculata
Male I found on diptera.info will be correct. Diptera.info - Discussion Forum: Pediciidae, Dicranota (s.str.) bimaculata
I can't find a pic of Dicranomyia lutea, but the specie name suggests it's yellowish. 'bimaculata' does suggest two spots.
That may be of some help.
Janet
