Pretty certain this is Leucozona lucorum

My thoughts exactly

I just hesitate to give ID's myself now, I never know if there is some similar species from the same genus that my books neglect to mention .

That's a good point. In some families, like Anthomyiids, all species look the same!
(bit of an exaggeration, but you get the gist).
