| | | Nomada female, very red. I took 3 pics of this female on 1st May.
Is it just a very red N. flava, or panzeri, or something else?

Barr no information on mandibles, a combination of other features on show thankfully, make me think it looks like Nomada ruficornis - though as always that can't be certain from a photo I wouldn't have thought!
Take care, Jason

I did have N. ruficornis male last year so it might have been that. I don't think so though, the 3rd antennal segment should be significantly shorter than the 4th. On my bee, the 3rd segment is at least as long and perhaps a little longer.
The hind tibia of N. ruficornis female should have about 5 long spines, I'm not sure just where on the tibia these should be. One of my pics shows the hind tibia, there are, I think, two long spines at the base of the tibia, it does show short dark hairs or spines all the way down the tibia on both sides.
I had thought there was a similarity to N. striata, but I really couldn't say for sure without knowing other features which may be visible. There's no good close ups of any of these on the internet. Quote: |

| If you know what to look for, and it is visible, it can be certain. I can sleep tonight too. Unidentified Nomada

Well, remember I have a female ruficornis in my collection. Unfortunately I can't look at that though as my microscope light is on the blink - typically good timing! Quote:

As for spine placement, it would be just typical if they were placed on the inside wouldn't it! Still, I think your image would show that. |

I'll even stick my neck out and say this male I got the previous day is N. panzeri too. Check out those long femora hairs front, and the adpressed hairs on the hind femur. Insecten fotosite
