| | | Bombus Over this weekend with the doors open thanks to the nice weather, there has been a procession of queen Bombus of one sort or another flying in and ending up as usual running up and down the windows until i capture and release them.
One or two were real beauties and the last one today was no exception, obviously a queen but one which was almost completely black, i should have taken a photo but didn't.
Just wondered what species or variety it was as i don't think i have noticed one that colour before.
Any ideas anyone?

| | | Re: Bombus Hi Geoff, unfortunately not Bombus lapidarius.
Jason, thanks for your suggestions, it could be Anthophora plumipes but not 100% sure but its definitely not Melecta albifrons, the shape was all wrong.
Eucera, I think Bombus jonellus is the best bet, very similar to the picture in the Gallery apart from the colour of the one photographed, will keep a lookout for it and try to get a picture, assuming it is still local.
Thanks everyone for all you help
