| | | Tick Hi everyone this is my first post and I hope I've uploaded the pics correctly etc!
I found "Tick"this on my doorstep last sunday It fell off our stray cat that comes to get fed occasionally and it looks like it has had it's fill to!
I usually look at the likes of these with my magnifying loupe but decided to put my camera onto the loupe eyepiece and zoom in..........And i'm quite pleased with the results For the price of the equipment!! |

I have no idea which tick it is, it seems to be a pretty specialist area of entomology. Excellent images, the loupe's glass will have acted as a macro lens. Try attaching the loupe to your camera, and you'll have a great suplementary macro lens for if you see an insect or other whilst out. No discernible CA at all - where did you get the loupe from?!
Feel free to stick around, or request other IDs and we'll try and help
Take care, Jason |

| | | Loupe Thank you for the welcome Jason, I bought the loupe in Tokyo in 2004 the make is I.L.K and it cost 1,000 yen as it still has the sticker on the box I cant remember the rate of exchange but the pound was strong and I dont think it was any more than £5 |

Yes it is full, I forgot to say in the original post it measured 10mm on the measuring scale on the loupe! it would be nice to measure one before it gorged itself.........I dont think my eyesights up to finding one though!!!!! |

| | | Re: Tick Hi John,
If I want to find a tick all I do is go for a walk across the hills out the back of my house. When I get home there's always one or two on me. Loads of deer around ours so loads of ticks too.

| | | Re: Tick John, I forgot to say, where abouts in Dumfries are you. My wife is from there. She actually grew up in New Abbey and then moved into Dumfries when she was in her teens. Her family are still there so we visit pretty regular.
I really like Dumfries.
