| | | ID pls - is this a very poorly crane fly? I took a picture of this on the window today before helping it fly away - which it did fine. But if it's a crane fly the poor thing seems to be missing its middle and hind legs, unless they develop later? There's SO much one doesn't know when one starts to get interested in insects! Thanks for any help. |

Now that I've googled more broadly for images I understand what you mean, and it makes me wonder if one or two of the images in the Gallery are really Tipula lunata - like this one for example, if I'm understanding what you mean by lunules...?
