| | | Two beetles please. Both of these were found today.
This one was hiding under a stone, about 6mm long. I think it may be Clivina fossor.
I think Chrysomelidae, possibly Lochmaea suturalis. It was sitting on the top of a fence post. C. 5mm long.
Confirmation (or not) appreciated.
Regards

| | | Re: Two beetles please. Steve, the carabid is definitely a Clivinia and it has the distinguishing characteristics of C. fossor. They're nice carabids to see.
The second photo looks like L. suturalis. What host plants were nearby?
Ross

| | | Re: Two beetles please. Cheers Ross,
the carabid was one that I don't remember seeing before but quite a distinctive shape and nice to spot.
As for number two, it was quite a long way from any decent sized patches of heather, at least a mile or so, which was one thing that made me doubt the ID. It was on a fence post at the edge of sheep grazing, next to a hedge containing the usual; hazel, blackthorn, hawthorn, elder, sycamore etc. There is still very little in leaf as yet though.
