Mysterious bee

Hello folks. Can anyone identify this rather nice looking bee I saw in my garden today? Most Aprils I see these and I have a vague recollection I saw one digging a hole once and am assuming it is some kind of mining bee. Many thanks in advance.

Its a female of the Tawny Mining-bee, Andrena fulva. Check out other pics at the BWARS Gallery at BWARS Home Page

Eucera. Having just looked at the distribution map, they don't appear that widespread/common. Is that right?

I guess it dependss where you are. In much of southern England they are both widespread and common (its in my garden for instance). The further north you go the less plentiful they become.

If you can pm me the data I can ensure it gets into the National Database
