Help with ID please - ladybird?

This was crawling across the chopping board in the kitchen so I grabbed my camera. Is it some species of ladybird? About 2mm in length.

Evening John,

It's the Varied Carpet Beetle, Anthrenus verbasci - just a rather dark individual. We have four of these species in the UK, and whilst verbasci seems to be the most widespread it is always worth looking at leg colour and formation of antenna in case it's A. fuscus, sarnicus or museorum though these may be more at home in museums.

These are often mistaken for Ladybirds!
