| | | Scarce Fungus Weevil - two-in-one mimic? This was crawling about on an information board at Old Sarum.
I got too close to it and it dropped off, and it took me a while to spot it - the right way up, it looks like a piece of dry twig, upside down and playing dead it looks like a bird dropping.
Are there any other insects that have two different camouflages? |

As for other insects with similar two-in-one mimicry, some of the long-horn beetles, especially some of the more exotic species seem to have evolved a similar strategy.
