Female Feathered-footed flower bee?
I think this is a female Feather-footed flower bee (Anthophora plumipes) seen today in a friend's garden in Dorset.

Dark round body and light hairs on back leg - hovering flight and very fast!

Can anyone confirm this? Cheers. Jane

Yes, they particularly like Pulmonarias + Symphytums in my garden. See this one is feeding from Borage.

Thanks Nutmeg and Aeshna. Yes, Borage seemed to be a big hit with this little bee-fly (but he was on Pulmonarias as well!)
