| | | Pied Shieldbug - Tritomegas bicolor I thought the map could do with a spot in Lincolnshire for this one. NBN Gateway - interactive species mapper

I'm also surprised, no wonder Lincolnshire appears to have no wildlife at all, one would think it's a sterile place!
Maybe those in authority need a specimen.

| | | Re: Pied Shieldbug - Tritomegas bicolor Yes, I certainly photographed T. biolour back in April '07 - and added it to the Gallery here too:
I can't even remember now if I submitted my records of it to the county recorder . |

| | | Re: Pied Shieldbug - Tritomegas bicolor It must have had a name change, which explains why I didn't find yours when I searched on here. It's named Sehirus bicolor, I see the Essex Field Club has it named that too. Species Account: Sehirus bicolor

| | | Re: Pied Shieldbug - Tritomegas bicolor There are very few Hemiptera records on NBN - something which we hope to change in the future. With any luck there is an Online Recording Scheme in the pipeline for all Shieldbugs and allies - they are a perfect group for this approach as they are all fairly large and distinctive and can be identified from a photo (unlike many bees, for example).
The current name for Pied Shieldbug is T. bicolor |

| | | Re: Pied Shieldbug - Tritomegas bicolor Evening Janet,
What an attractive species. I wonder why the ( at least middle/hind) tibiae are so spiky-looking?
Take care, Jason | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
