Beetle for ID
Caught flying over field near river. 7mm long. I'm not sure what family to put it in and would be grateful for help. Could it be heliophorus sp. ?

Helophorus sp - can't do better than that from a picture.

Very nice photo - what sort of kit / processes are you using to take it?

I've still got it in the fridge if any more details would help to narrow it down.
I use a D80 with Nikkor 60mm micro lens & various extension tubes. I use a tripod and flash with the insect in an old ice cream box as a light box.
