fly and flightless wasp for ID
Hi,

I took both of these in my back garden last week (in Cambridgeshire). Any help with ID gratefully accepted.

1: A small, c.3mm fly with patterned wings



2: A flightless wasp? About 4-5mm long

Evening Will,

The first is a Stem-boring Fly from the Opomyzidae family - genus either Opomyza or Geomyza I should think. The other is a flightless Wasp as you say, from the Dryinidae family.

The fly looks good for Geomyza tripunctata

Wasp is a Gelis sp
