| | | My first Bee Fly this year In my S. Devon garden yesterday.
A little bit of sunshine is beginning to get those insects moving.
My first Bombylius major of the season. Last year I did see B. discolor here but just the 'standard version' this time.
A quick snap at what was really too great a distance; but this is where my 180 mm lens does help to produce something. Just managed one shot before this rather flighty individual moved. I did try gently following it and managed a couple of other poor shots but it wasn't going to settle so I left it alone.
With better weather forecast, I will keep a look out for it again this week |

The weather here today has been fantastic and the garden has been positively humming - lots of bees, hoverflies, butterflies etc.
Great |

| | | Re: My first Bee Fly this year Yes and with a couple more sunny days forecast things should finally start moving.
Went for a walk in some woods today and found plenty of early hoverflies; Syrphus, Platycheirus albimanus, and Eristalis pertinax. Plus a couple of odd insects which, so far, I can't identify. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
