| | | Re: True flies for ID Please Hi Peter,
First one in family Muscidae, Eudasyphora cyanella most likely (should have hairs on eyes). There's only two, other is E. cyanicolor which is more blue.
Second one, can't see enough but it's probably Calliphora vicina, I have it aorund occasionally but haven't seen C. vomitoria yet, saw that one a lot last year but it's not as commonly seen.
Janet

| | | Re: True flies for ID Please Evening Peter,
You're correct in questioning the first - I think it's actually a Muscidae family member judging by the wing venation. The second is a Calliphoridae - maybe Calliphora sp., any side shots of it?
Take care, Jason |

| | | Re: True flies for ID Please Good morning Janet and Jason,
Thanks for the ID and just love the friendly banter
I am afraid the second fly did not stay around long enough to get shots at other angles. I normall like to get face and top view each time but some models just do not appreciate how important it is to show off
I have a 5 spot ladybird on the house wall. It arrived about 5 days ago and has not moved. It is probably waiting for it to warm up a bit more but it has chosen the wrong side of the house. It's nearly always in the shade at this time of the year.

It has moved this morning. Rotated about 90 deg. but still in the same spot.
