| | | Please help identify this beetle Hi,
These beetles started appearing in my house about a year ago. Does anyone know what they are?
These things are everywhere but more often I see them in the kitchen/bathroom areas.
They are normally 3mm long, sometimes slightly smaller.
Sorry about the quality of the pic, it's the best I could get.
Thanks. |

| | | Re: Please help identify this beetle Good afternoon Andy, and welcome to WAB!
Firstly, well done on the photograph of such a small insect, and secondly for getting it in our Archive!
Now, for the identification - it's a Furniture Beetle, and the exact species is likely Anobium punctatum. Not all insects have individual common names, so you have to go by their unique scientific one! I can't help really RE their exact pest status, sorry...
Take care, Jason |

| | | Re: Please help identify this beetle I think Jason was saying in a roundabout way, that you've got woodworm!

| | | Re: Please help identify this beetle ...a round-about way indeed! There are about four beetles I believe that fit under that name, but they aren't all equally damaging to the best of my knowledge. |

| | | Re: Please help identify this beetle I've been doing some hunting around today and came across an unopened packet of dried noodles in the kitchen that had holes in it. Opening it up revealed a nest of the things.
Cooking the noodles seemed to take care of the little pests fairly well but it didn't look too appetising!
Some pics... | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
