| | | Bumblebee for ID Is this a Bombus pascuorum? or something else?
It seems to have a lot of white on it, including on the face and front legs - but unfortunately you can't see its tail...
I wondered if it was a B. hypnorum (one was found in my village a couple of weeks ago) but I've never seen one before.
Thanks. Jane |

| | | Re: Bumblebee for ID Afternoon Jane,
Sorry - Bombus pascuorum. The Tree Bumblebee has a pure white tail-tip, and as far as I know a generally unblemished black band on the abdomen where it joins the thorax. I can see the tail - the last orange band.
As a general rule - if you need to ask, it probably isn't! With this one, you'll just know
Take care, Jason |
