| | | Chelostoma florisomne male? Hi,
I found a female of Chelostoma florisomne on this site.. Woodland and Hedgerow bees
It reminded me a lot of a male I got pics of last year, a quite small bee but I haven't marked the size.
It flies in May and June so isn't far out of the timing, mine looks worn. wild bee
I have both rotting wood, and Ranunculus (buttercup type flowers) but I think the field across the road grows a lot in wet periods. It is a woodland and Hedgerow species, which I am surrounded by.
Is anyone familiar with this species? Could it be anything else?
Janet

| | | Re: Chelostoma florisomne male? Certainly not a Chelostoma florissomne male, it looks to small and the abdomen lacks any lumps and bumps, also too early for it to be about. This one is probably a small fresh Andrena male but I can't see enough to be sure. |

| | | Re: Chelostoma florisomne male? Thanks Matt, they are a difficult lot.
What time of year would Chelostoma florisomne fly here? The Slovenia site says May and June. I wrongly thought this bee was faded, must remember to look at the wings.

| | | Re: Chelostoma florisomne male? The records I have for C.florisomne start in late May and go through to early August, most in June/July. |

| | | Re: Chelostoma florisomne male? Thanks again Matt, mine was on 4th July 09 which I put under the pic, but I neglected to put that in the post.
I found some good pics of a male Chelostoma florisomne on flickr by Nigel Jones, I can see the very bumpy abdomen there. Chelostoma florisomne on Flickr - Photo Sharing!

I found a Lasioglossum minutissimum male which inhabits Heathlands and sandpits, bottom left pic. This one does really look a possibilty to me. Heathland sandpits bees
