If you decide I'm too far north for this one Jason, before you discount it I expect you to give me good alternatives! 
This was on 23rd May 2009, I think I had the same bee the year before too.
Does anyone else have any other clues, or does anyone agree with me?

SJH, did you get any photos?
There will be others which look similar, but without a photo to see the details it would be difficult to say what yours was unless you are very experienced.
On this Cz site Andrena dorsata flies April to May, that might be a little different here. wild bee

I see you have now put a link to your pic, the wings have a reddish tint which reminds me of Halictus rubicundus, but the legs don't match. It could still be another Halictus species though.
Any more angles?

Your other pics show the pollen baskets much better, it does look like Andrena dorsata to me too.

You know, there's something about yours which doesn't say Andrena dorsata, but it does look more like Andrena wilkella.

It's very difficult to say what your last set of pics are, you need to see details as so many are similar.
