First flying beasty of 2010

Hi Guys

I'm just getting into photographing insects after been inspired by all your amazing photo's. After buying my first macro lens I'm really looking forward to spring reaching Argyll.

Can you identify this moth please. I'm sure it is very common but this is the first thing I have been able to photograph with my new macro lens (apart from woodlice) so It would be nice to know what its called.

Its one of the Geometer moths but what one am stumped leave it to the experts

Any idea on its size, i've gone through my book a few times now and i keep drawing a blank...though it is probably staring me right in the face

From wing tip to tip it was maby just over 1 inch, but not by much.
